Star Trek 60th Anniversary
Celebrate 60 years of the original Star Trek and its stars, William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, and series creator Gene Roddenberry. All three are profiled in Herbie J Pilato’s book, Dashing, Daring, and Debonair: TV’s Top Male Icons from the ’50s, ’60s, and 70s. Additionally, Nichelle Nichols, the remarkable actress who played Lt. Uhura in the trailblazing franchise, is profiled in Herbie J's book, Glamour, Gidgets, and the Girl Next Door: Television's Iconic Women From the '50s, '60s, and '70s. See below for the SHOP links for these books and more.

Herbie J stands with legendary Star Trek designer Doug Drexler in front of the Burbank Studios, the former location for the West Coast studios of NBC-TV, the original network of the original Star Trek TV series. Doug recently released his acclaimed new memoir, Trek Star: The Geek Life of Doug Drexler.

Early in his career, Herbie J met Gene Roddenberry, and asked him for a job. "The Great Bird of the Galaxy," as Roddenberry was known, sent Herbie J a nice rejection letter, shortly after he became a Page for NBC, the original network of the original Star Trek TV series. The letter and the story of Herbie J's meeting Roddenberry is in Herbie J's book, NBC & ME: MY LIFE AS A PAGE IN A BOOK.
